The Ghana Immigration Service has dismissed reports that the 13 Pakistanis arrested in the Central region are terrorists.
According to the PRO of the GIS in the region, Raymond Bahe, the foreigners are missionaries who are in Ghana to preach to the Muslim community.
The 13 individuals were on Thursday arrested by some youth of Assin Fosu over suspicions they are terrorists. The youth handed them to the Police for investigations to be conducted into their activities.
Speaking to Starr News, Mr. Bahe said the individuals are only missionaries who pose no threat to the country.
“Whatever information in the public domain is not true. The information we have is that, they are missionaries from Pakistan preaching the gospel to the Muslim community but we are monitoring them. They are missionaries, nothing more nothing less. There is cause for alarm,” he stated.
Meanwhile, one of the Pakistanis has told Starr News they are not terrorists as is being reported by the media.
“We have come here from Pakistan to meet our Muslim brothers. We are here for peace and nothing else. Our mission is to meet and fraternize with our Muslim colleagues. If we fulfill the commandment of God, all our wishes will be fulfilled. If we disobey God, he will be angry with us and our lives will be miserable,” he said.
