A youth group; Concerned Youth of Kumasi have in what appears to be a preemptive move, thrown their support behind the Ashanti regional minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah.
It is rumoured that the President is set to kick out the Ashanti regional minister in an imminent reshuffle.
The group has however indicated its preparedness to preempt such a move by the President.
“We the concern youth of Kumasi will resist any attempt to either sacked or change the Ashanti regional Minister Hon. Peter Anarfi-Mensah from the region”, the group said in a statement.
The group believes the Minister’s ability to work without a deputy minister is one sign of his competence and a reason to maintain him in office.
They also fear that the time it will take to go through the formalities of seating a new Regional minister would be detrimental to the cause of the region.

We are appealing to President Mahama not to change or sack Ashanti regional Minister Hon. Peter Anarfi Mensah.
We the concern youth of Kumasi will resist any attempt to either sacked or change the Ashanti regional Minister Hon. Peter Anarfi Mensah from the region.
Even though its a rumor that the regional Minister will be sacked from his post for no apparent reason but we want to treat with all seriousness it deserves that the regional Minister who has other oversight responsibilities has proven to be a good leader who respects our chiefs and the clergy.
Don’t let us forget that the former headmaster of Tepa SHS in the Ahafo Ano North district is working without a Deputy Minister since he assume office last year and that alone shows how competent he is so it will be a surprise to us if President John Dramani Mahama will change such a hardworking person.
Our main worry is that assuming without admitting that the regional Minister is sacked of changed it will take some months to get his replacement because the person who will be appointed will pass through a process before he/she will be sworn into office the region will be ungovernable.
