Asante Akim North DCE dismisses calls by security expert for his removal over Fulani herdsmen issue

fulani-manThe Chairman of the Asante Akim North District Security Council (DISEC), Paul Kingsley Arweh Averu has called the bluff of a security expert calling for his removal from office as District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area.

“It is a great mistake to remove a month old public officer tasked to bring peace and harmony regarding the illegal activities of Fulani  in Agogo and its environs”, the DCE tells rawgist.com’s Kwabena Danso-Dapaah in an interview.

Security expert with Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Center, Dr. Kwasi Anning wants DCE  Paul Kingsley Awer Averu and outgoing Ashanti Regional minister Peter Anarfi Mensah stripped off their posts over their handling of issues of Fulani headsmen and resident farmers in the district.

According to him, the insecurity in the area should be put on the doorstep of the DCE and the minister as heads of Security who did no diligent work to save lives and properties.

But the DCE exclusively told rawgist.com the security expert got it wrong to call for his head with all the road maps in place to ensure the people enjoy everlasting peace as Ghanaians.

“It is wrong to suggest the minister or anyone be removed from office with all the steps taken to bring peace…I assumed the reigns of office as DCE only a month ago but I can boast of fixing an old police vehicle just to ameliorate the security situation here”.

Hon. Averu stated that he has never slept on his job as DCE and head of DISEC ever since he took office adding “there have been a lot of boardroom meetings among security stakeholders in preventing future occurrences and nobody should think that I am not doing anything about the issue”.

The DCE lauded plans by the incoming Regional Minister to use chiefs and the local people in the area to end the long standing confusion between farmers and cattle owners there.
