All is set for the 2014 edition of the biennial musical worship experience, Family Praise, organisers have announced.
The live musical event, put together by the Prince Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church (PESDAC) in Accra, was initiated over a decade ago by the church’s music department in conjunction with other music groups within the Seventh-Day Adventist family.
Since its inception in 2002, PESDAC has organised six inspiring worship in music events, all aimed at uplifting souls and bringing joy to people from all walks of life.
“Family Praise brings the soothing and inspiring melodies of Christian music to its audiences’ drawing attention to the power of God’s love and word, and to the warmth and joy of sweet fellowship,” organisers said in a statement.
“From a small local church level musical programme for its congregation at Prince Emmanuel SDA Church back in 2002, Family Praise has now become a major calendar event not just for the Seventh-day Adventist Church at large,” the statement added.
The 2014 event, which is the 7th edition, is under the theme: “THERE’S ENOUGH OF GOD’S LOVE” and the organisers said the theme is apt because “In these hard times we tend to forget the love of God but we need to remember that “THERE’S ENOUGH OF GOD’S LOVE” for our every need.”
PESDAC explained that what makes Family Praise different is that the choice of music is unique in that it blends Southern Gospel (Country Style) with traditional gospel and Praise tunes (mostly arranged by the group).
“Popular Hymns (re-arranged by group) and local Gospels (arranged to suit a mix of coral and Ghanaian praise) are all part of the retinue. Family Praise harnesses the musical talents of its members such that our songs are either rearrangements or compositions by members of the group with the aim of encouraging the audience to join in singing the praise and love of God. Our aim is to leave a song of love on every member of the audience after the ministration.”
“Family Praise is not a concert but a celebration of music, where God blesses His people through music. Our basic aim is to bring fellow Christians together in solemn, reflective, praise to God. Family Praise does not focus on individual talent but the entire group of talents, blending the young and old together as one big choir in ministration about God’s unfailing love. Our earnest desire and prayer is that we present Jesus and Him crucified,” organisers added.
This year’s event will also encompass a special project dubbed: The Family Praise 2014 Project – TOUCHING 2,014 LIVES.
Project TOUCHING 2014 LIVES, organisers said, is a drive to reach beyond the blessings of music and affect 2014 lives positively bringing change and a feeling of God’s love.
“By the next edition in 2016 we intend to touch the lives of 2,014 people. Bringing the love of God by meeting the needs of the under-privileged in society.”
PESDAC added that: “To that end we launched the project by adopting the Human Compassion Orphanage for HIV. We visited the Human Compassion Orphanage for HIV infected children at Pokuase to spent time with them in song and with some gifts. We desire to make follow up visits and add on others.”
The 2014 Family Praise comes off on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the National Theatre.
