Young Dream Builder, Organizers of the annual Ashanti’s most prestigious tertiary student’s awards has officially launched the 2019 edition of the Ashanti Tertiary Awards (ATA).
The award scheme which is in its second year was launched on the theme; Idea Funding For Job Creation at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Friday, 22nd March 2019.
Speaking during the launch of the awards, Chief Executive Officer of Young Dream Builder, Mr. Addai Solomon indicated that this year’s award scheme will go a long way to address the ever increasing graduate unemployment rate in the country.
“As a country, our major problem is job creation. A 2017 World Bank economic report indicated that about only 10 percent of graduates get jobs after completion so I find it appropriate and very reasonable to put on my award scheme idea funding for Job Creation because we have the ideas,” he stated.
According to him, the Ashanti Tertiary Awards which is organized annually is to identify, support and award students whose contributions have changed the society. The award scheme is a way to boost the self esteem and confident of these students. Ashanti Region has over 50,000 of population in Ghana’s tertiary education system with students from different tribes in Ghana and other foreign countries
ATA aims at establishing alternative career lines for students, recognize the socioeconomic benefits of Ashanti Tertiary Students and also a way to promote entertainment in the Ashanti region.
He added that anyone who gets nominated in the award scheme is a winner and can be given a placard, but this time around the Ashanti Tertiary Award scheme will be used to tackle unemployment issues that is the more reason for embarking on dream and dare project to invest and incubate in ideas. The first project is 100,000 cedis funded.
Mr. Addai Solomon explained that the 100,000 cedis funding is targeted at 100 people to enable them get employed purposely focusing on business ideas that will help the local industrial sector of Ghana.
The Leadership of the Biggest Students Awards Scheme in the Ashanti Region have announced Ashanti Tertiary Connect to take place at Base Bar at the Kumasi City Mall on April 5, 2019 followed by Ashanti Tertiary Conference on 29th May, Nominees will be unveiled on 18th May.
The grand finale will be held on 28th September, 2019 at the Great Hall of KNUST.

The 2019 edition of the Ashanti Tertiary Awards has 15 categories for interested students to apply. All Ashanti Tertiary Awards forms will be filled from young Dream Builder Website at youngdreambuilder.com
