2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Otto Addo names 26-man squad against Angola and Niger

Otto Addo, the Head Coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars, has named a 26-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, set to take place in early September.

The senior national team last gathered in June, where they achieved back-to-back wins over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Players are expected to report by Monday, September 2, 2024, to begin preparations for the AFCON qualifiers, with matches scheduled on September 5 in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and September 10 in Berkane.

Coach Otto Addo’s squad features the core group of players, with no significant surprises.

Key figures like Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku have all been retained.

Kingsley Schindler, Inaki Williams and Majeed Ashimeru all return to the squad after missing the last set of games, while Frederick Asare of Asante Kotoko is the only home-based player included.

Captain Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey have been left out after missing the last two games against Mali and the Central African Republic.

The Black Stars will open their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Niger in Berkane four days later.
