Ghana Health News-The Abena Tay Ministries (ATM) in collaboration with Breast Care International (BCI) on Thursday morning screened hundreds of traders, pedestrians as well as head porters at the Tema lorry station in Accra.
At a culturally colorful ceremony which the groups termed ‘Pink Market Day’ formed part of the 5th anniversary celebration of the Abena Tay Ministries, a women’s group that aims at providing empowerment for women and the vulnerable in the society.
With music performances from ever-green musicians like Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters and Akosua Agyepong patrons got entertained while they took their turns to test for their statuses in ailments such as breast cancer, hypertension, malaria and others.
Adding more excitement to the screening was some stupendous poetry recitation by Nana Asaase while Akumaa Mama Zimbi, a radio personality from Adom Fm provided lively engagement sessions to entertain the large audience at the grounds.
Also present at the screening grounds was the famous group of breast cancer survivors who were clad in their famous pink attires providing some form of counseling to those who were ready to test for their statuses.
LADY MINISTER:
Speaking to patrons ahead of the screening, Rev Dr Abena Tay encouraged the public to take advantage of the event to test to know their health statuses.
She also urged the public to periodically go for medical checks ups at the hospitals or medical centers.
This, Dr Tay mentioned will help people to avoid been hit with diseases that spring up in the body without traces.
‘’ It is important that while we have life we take our health serious and go for periodic medical check-ups at the hospital so that we can avoid the unfortunate occasions where sicknesses spring up in us unnoticed’’, Dr Rev Tay stressed with passion.
HONOUR:
Receiving honors at the event was Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe Addai, CEO of BCI and Peace and Love Hospitals.
Announcing the award christened Chavvah, which means a ‘life-giver’, Rev Dr Abena Tay described the BCI leader as an ‘exceptionally caring lady’.
ATM leader recalled the exploits of Dr Addai including her constant outreach against breast cancer disease across the regions of the country.
In her succinct comments to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Dr Mrs Wiafe Addai thanked Rev Dr Abena Tay for the honor done her.
She pledged her commitment doing more to ensure the Ghanaian population become aware of the breast cancer disease and the treatments that are available to those who are detected to have same.
‘’My son I am truly humbled by the honor done me by Rev Dr Abena Tay and I am resolved to let this spur me on to do more to help the society wherever I find myself’’, the BCI leader humbly posited.
