“Acquire skills and we shall facilitate your employment in the mines” -President of National House of Chiefs assures
The President of the National House of chiefs and Paramount chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso traditional area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi ll, has assured the youth of Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality about the stool’s readiness to facilitate their employment in the Bibiani mines.
The Chief however explained that the youth in the area can only be employed if they have the required skills. He therefore advised the youth to strive to obtain the needed skills that will make them employable at the mines.
Ogyeahoho brought said this when Ashanti Gold Corporation who have taken over from MGBL paid a courtesy call on him at his palace at Sefwi Anhwiaso.
He also advised the youth against stealing asserts and materials of the company if employed. He stressed that the youth of the area will be given priority ahead of all others.
Ogyeahoho again asked the new company, Ashanti Gold Corporation to as a matter of urgency assist Bibiani Gold Stars with a befitting pitch as they have qualified for the premier league, adding that he is hopeful they are in for business since they have already acquired ministerial approval to work.
The chairman of the mine , Mr. Kwame Ofosuhene Appenteng in his speech hinted that the new company is a typical Ghanaian company and he is not sure there is going to be a hurdle to be faced since they have the Minister’s consent.
He also called for cooperation from the media, explaining that journalists can always reach them on issues they need clarity on.
Vice President in charge of development and production at Ashanti Gold Corporation; Mr. Bashiru Ahmed assured the workers that none of them will be kicked out as management changes hands. He called on all residents to be patient and support them as they put plans into action for the benefit of the community.
The CEO of Ashanti Gold Corporation; Mr. Douglas Mark Quarre, for his part, emphasized that the company has a Ghanaian focus and will therefore endeavor as much as possible to work with Ghanaians. he also revealed plans to list the company on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
