The issues of celebrities using Facebook to get closer to their fans is one thing that is helping most showbizers in the entertainment industry but it seems some people are using their fan pages for wrong reasons.
About two weeks ago, Flex newspaper reported that Akrobeto had said he was not concerned about being on Facebook and pleaded that all those who had created pages on Facebook in his name should be arrested.
Recently, I chanced upon this fan page that bore the name of child actress, Maame Serwaah and I was gobsmacked by what I read on the page. This was what was posted on her page on 4th July, 2014:
“Hello fans, give me your whatsapp number, if u are a girl and ready for hookup, not guys please…only teenagers…I will hook u up to a nice looking guy…cammon this is ur chance…be hurry.”
Then in another post, she wrote this: “Hello fans, try your luck, you are to give me your whatsapp number if u are a girl of 10 to 20 years for a hook with a nice handsome guy…no guys, no women above 20 please…love u all.”
Being a child actor, those are unfortunate words to have come from her. I don’t know what on earth a young girl like that would gain from hooking ladies up to guys. Would it be for financial purposes, for gimmicky or for fun?
When Flex newspaper spoke to Mr Dominic Amponsah, manager of Maame Serwaah he explained that Maame Serwaah is not on Facebook and that any page that bears her name and pictures is fake.
Our investigations have however shown that there are about two more of such pages supposedly for the actress that keeps updating her activities on daily basis.
The issue of people using pictures and names of celebrities on social media to do their unscrupulous acts is becoming rampant and it is about time these criminals are apprehended.
