Members of the NDC in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency are angry with the Ashanti regional minister over his decision to contest the sitting NDC MP in the constituency.
Peter Anarfi Mensah, Ashanti regional minister, submitted his nomination forms in the constituency Thursday.
The NDC members who had gathered in their numbers to support the sitting MP; Hon. Kwasi Adusei thought the minister could have supported the sitting MP with his authority in the region instead of trying to oust him. They recounted times in the constituency when nobody was willing to stand for the seat in the name of the NDC and the hardships Hon. Adusei went through to secure the NPP seat for the NDC and vowed to shame the regional minister should he go ahead to contest.
One of the NDC members told rawgist.com President Mahama has bought a gun for his enemy to shoot him as the activities of those contesting the sitting MP will ensure the party loses the seat altogether to the NPP.
“For a party that claims to be seeking one million votes, this is not the time to be dividing the party but rather unite behind Hon. Adusei to win the area for the President and retain the seat as well”, another told rawgist.com.
Former Deputy Ashanti regional Minister, Joseph Yammin was also there to throw his weight behind the sitting MP and called for the gains of the party in the area to be consolidated and not destroyed for anybody’s personal interest. He recounted some of the challenges they faced in their quest to win the seat for the NDC and announced that Hon. Adusei has not disappointed the people nor the party.
He led MP and a large crowd to file his nomination amidst funfair.
For now, the regional minister as far as rawgist.com’s inquiries are concerned, is seen as a bully whose participation in the election will not be in the interest of the party. Many NDC followers who converged at Tepa believe any other person beside the sitting MP will cause NDC to lose the seat and also divide the party’s front unnecessarily.
