Deputy Minister of Education for Pre-tertiary Education, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh has given students and parents within the Techiman North Constituency yet another cause to rejoice.
The Minister, who is also member of Parliament for the area is organizing remedial classes to help over one hundred and fifty (150) Senior High School graduates who failed to pass all their subjects especially English, Math and Science.
The project code-named “Operation go back to school” is estimated to cost over Fifteen Thousand Ghana Cedis.
As part of the package, the Deputy Minister will provide Teachers, Teaching and Learning materials as well as refreshment for the facilitators.
He will also register the candidates free of charge since many of them cannot afford to register.
This, rawgist.com’s investigations reveal is the second time the Member of Parliament has done such a project.
Speaking to rawgist.com, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh nursed high hopes that the success of the first one will be tripled as several students are already jostling for places in the remedial programme which is absolutely free for them.
“The first one saw many of the participants passing their exams and getting access to various tertiary schools across the country. I believe this one will break the success of the previous one”, the Minister told rawgist.com’s Bernard Buachi.
He adds that to avoid overcrowding and to also bring the venue closer to the candidates, two venues will be used to run the all important classes.
Many students either fail or perform poorly in English, Math and Science hence truncating their chances of higher education.
The Minister however says he is determined to ensure that as many within the constituency and the Municipality at large obtain higher education.
