All communities in Ghana are to be connected to the national grid in five years’ time, Power minister Kwabena Donkor has said.
According to him, a budget is to be presented to parliament for funding for the project.
He told Parliament Thursday that priority will be given to communities with limited electricity coverage when the project commences.
“In rolling up further projects, we are also looking at national equity. Some parts of the country are extremely covered with electricity while others fall below the lower upgrade.
“…Therefore in next year’s budget, we will be making request through the ministry of finance to this House in order to cover the areas that are yet to be covered with the national electricity project,” he said.
