Ghana News-Mr. Pious Vincent Abakah, a philanthropist and Head of Operations for Nyonkopa Cocoa Buying Company, a subsidiary of Barry Callebaut, supported Aprompi Community primary school near Sefwi Boako in the western region.
The only school in the community was in a dire need of teaching and learning materials and sometimes struggled to afford the payment of salaries of teachers employed by the community to sustain it from collapse.
Mr. Abakah donated exercise books, two bags of rice, Cooking oil, Pencils and undisclosed amount of money to cater for three months salaries of the teachers in the school.
He explained that he is a native of that community and feels the need to give back for the support he has received.
He said he heard the ordeal of the school from a committee member and responded in his own small way.
Managers of the school say they are struggling to secure teaching and learning materials for the school.The school is also not a beneficiary of the school feeding programme.
He promised to adopt the school and ensure it is sustained until government comes to their aid.
He moreover, made a passionate appeal to parents and guardians to take their wards’ education seriously to enable them become good leaders to take the leadership mantle of the country in future.
Mr. Kwaku Boye, the unit committee chairman who received the items on behalf of the community expressed his profound gratitude to the manager and confessed the donation was a timely one.
He said the items will go a long way and would serve as relief to parents, Teachers and the children themselves.
He assured of judicious use of the items.
He pleaded with well meaning Ghanaians to help the school secure furniture since it was a major issue the school is currently grappling with.
