Sachet water producers in the Ashanti Region have decided to halt production due to the increasing cost of doing business.
The secretary of the sachet water producers association, Kofi Antwi-Adjei says the action is to last for a week.
The producers say they cannot keep up production at the current market prices of their products.
They are hoping to convince the public to agree to price increments to enable them to cover their costs.
Mr. Antwi-Adjei explained in an interview with rawgist.com that cost of labor, electricity, fuel and other duty charges could collapse their businesses if a sachet of water is not sold at GHc 0.20 and a bag for GHc 3.00.
He also urged non-members of the association to join their cause as the current economic challenges affect them all.
