My arrest was a ploy by Mahama-Wontumi

wontumiThe Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako has alleged his recent arrest and detention at the Kumasi Central Police Station was an orchestration by the Mahama administration.

Addressing hundreds of party supporters who had massed on the party headquarters after his release , Mr Boasiako revealed everything was weaved out from the presidency just to teach him a lesson.

He, however,stressed nothing could be used or be deployed to cow him down from plotting the downfall of the incompetent Mahama government in November 7th.

”I am fully aware of all that went on before my incarceration and I know it was the doing of President Mahama and his brother Ibrahim Mahama”, the NPP chairman roared.

BACKGROUND :

Last Sunday, around the hours of 10 am, the NPP chairman was alleged to have accosted and beaten one Felix Ibrahim, NPP Constituency Secretary for the Manhyia North.

This, followed the Chairman’s apprehension against the Secretary for flouting his orders to allow an agent he had chosen to mount Nana Fordwuor Polling Station where the limited registration exercise was on going.

Subsequently, the Chairman who was said to be filled with rage confronted the party’s Member of Parliament, Collins Owusu Amankwah and slapped him.

The Chairman, according sources alleged the MP together with the constituency secretary were deliberately frustrating his attempt to have some particular party agents man the Manhyia North centres for the limited exercise.

DENIAL:

But, speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, the incumbent MP, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah denied carrying out such claims by the regional chairman and said he was surprised Mr Boasiako chose to acost and assault him in the full glare of the public.

He said the party had agreed to partner the constituency to put up agents at the registration centres and that was exactly what he had done.

ARREST AND BAIL:

Hon Owusu Amankwah, having reported a case of assault against the regional Chairman, ocassioned the police to invite Mr Boasiako and officially charged and put him behind bars for a day.

However, Mr Boasiako was eventually released on bail early Wednesday after the Asokwa Magistrate Court under His Honour Mr Korkor Owusu Akyiaw committed him to a bail bond of two sureties and a sum of 20,000gh.

OTHER SPEAKERS:

Mr John Boadu, acting General Secreatry and acting National Chairman, Mr Freddie Blay speaking at the party headquarters said the party was ready to wrestle power from the incompetent National Democratic Congress.

They, however, swore nothing could stand in the way of the NPP to securing power in the upcoming 2016 General election.
