At Shama, Mr Boateng who is fondly referred to as “Asabee” said the rearing for food and cash policy by the Ministry of Food and Agric as well as the Fisheries Ministry was intended to encourage those who deal in fish to do so on larger scale.

Concerning fisherfolks whose pre-occupation has been at the seashore, the SIGA boss said government was committed to ensuring incentives like nets and other needful items like pre-mix fuel are available to them at low rates.

“The NPP government is committed to prioritising issues of fisherfolks knowing that the job you do contribute to economic growth “, the SIGA boss noted.

At the Mfantseman constituency, Mr Boateng encouraged the fisherfolks to reach out to the fisheries ministry with any challenges they may be facing.

According to him , the Ministry was specifically set up to take up their issues and help to resolve them.

Issues like the constant availability of pre-mix fuel and outboard motors, the SIGA boss said had gone down because government decided to prioritise same.

He urged the fisherfolks to have confidence in the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo since his government was committed in their welfare and wellbeing.

“I know the heart of Nana Addo towards fisherfolks and I was not surprised he set up the Ministry of Fisheries to oversee your activities”, Mr Boateng posited.
