Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Friday opened the Asantehene Gold Cup; a Golf competition at the Royal Golf course in Kumasi.
The official opening of the tournament coincided with the King’s 66th birthday.
The tournament which will see serious Golf action over a four-day period was sponsored by Ghana’s leading telecommunications service provider; MTN.
Otumfuo took time to play with some friends including Dr. Sam Jonah, Nana Manso Nkwantahene, Former AGI CEO Mr Kwasi Abeasi.
The competition started on Thursday with Professionals playing for four days. Both main event and support Amateurs will also participate in the four-day competition.
CEO for MTN, Mr. Ebenezer Twum Asante told rawgist.com that one of the values of Golf is the promotion relationships, which he says is a shared value with MTN hence his company’s decision to sponsor the tournament.
Otumfuo was surprised with a nice looking birthday cake which he cut amidst the singing of birthday songs. He revealed that he was pleasantly surprised by the gesture and was thankful. He promised to continue to support the club.
