Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, the Mayor of Kumasi, has rallied the citizenry to collaborate with the city authorities in their pursuit to restore Kumasi to its ‘Garden City’ status.
He endeared them to as such adhere to all bye-laws relating to environmental sanitation to achieve objectives of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
Mr. Osei Assibey was interacting with members of the Ashanti Business Owners Association in Kumasi, after they presented some items and cash of 5, 000 Ghana Cedis to the Assembly.
The money is meant for the purchase of coconut seedlings for planting to beautify the metropolis.
OTHER ITEMS:
The items, including shovels, wheelbarrows, Wellington boots, nose masks, long broom, washing powder and detergents, as well as rakes and cartons of beta malt are meant to support the Assembly in its impending clean up exercise.
Mr. Osei Assibey advised that environmental cleanliness was a shared responsibility, saying the onus lied on the people to always keep their surroundings clean.
GROUP LEADER:
Mr. J.K. Agyemang, Chairman of the Association, assured that they would continue to partner the Assembly to keep the city tidy.
He promised to make themselves available for subsequent clean up exercises.
He rallied other groups in the metropolis to voluntarily partner with the KMA to make the city the cleanest in the country.
