The Police in the Ashanti region have vowed to deal with political commentators who make irresponsible comments that have the tendency to create political tension in the region.
This warning follows some comments reportedly made on Kumasi based BOSS FM by an NDC activist; Robert Owusu.
“With regard to Robert Owusu’s irresponsible comments in relation to amassing and sharpening of machetes, the Police, particularly DCOP Kofi Boakye, categorically dissociate himself from such irresponsible utterances”, a Police Press statement said.
The statement signed by Asst. Supt. of Police Yusif Tanko states that the Police have requested for the tape “whilst a copy is sent to the National CID Headquarters Political Desk for necessary action to be taken on same”.
Residents of the region have also been asked to remain calm whilst the Police continue to discharge its “constitutional and professional mandate of maintaining law and order and protection of life and properties devoid of Political interference”.
