The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), has presented fifty (50), bags of refined Sugar and an undisclosed amount to the Council of Imams and Zongo Chiefs in Kumasi.
The donation was part of Government’s annual pledge to support Muslims during the fasting period.
Muslims across the world are observing thirty (30) days of fasting to fulfill the third pillar of the Islamic Religion.
During this period, Muslims abstain from food and water from dawn to dusk.
Marriage couples, also abstain from sex and other deeds that violate the teachings of the Religion.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi Mensah, who presented the items on behalf of Government called on Muslims to remember Ghana in their payers.
“This presentation is not being done to only the Muslim community, as the Father of the nation, it is a normal practice that the President gives to Religious groups when the need arises,” he indicated.
He also encouraged Muslim youth to not engage in acts that could tarnish the good image of the Islamic Religion.
He emphasized that; the country needs prayers not only from the Muslim community, but also other Religious bodies.
The country he said, needed commitment of Religious groups to overcome the current economic challenges.
Head of the Council of Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Umar-Farouk Sultan, thanked the Minister and pledged their continuous support to the Government.
He said, Government has been consistent in giving out to the Muslim and Zongo community during Ramadan.
