Many within the Ashanti region are shocked at the sudden pace of construction works ahead of the President’s visit to the region.
In many parts of the region including Ejisu, Oduom, Tafo, Abuakwa, Buokrom, Daaban, New Juabeng South, Mampong Kofiase roads were tarred overnight, leveled or potholes sealed to make them fit for purpose.
The President of Ghana; Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo is in the Ashanti region for a four-day working visit.
Many residents of the Ashanti region are however wondering what gingered the contractors, who hitherto had been “snail-pacing” on their allotted roads to miraculously reach the level of work currently being witnessed.
Some also say the frenzied pace of work triggered by the presence of the president is a sign that city authorities have shirked their responsibilities.
They also hoped the pace of work on roads ahead of the President’s visit will be sustained even after he leaves.
The action of the contractors is what pertains usually a few days to elections in areas where bad roads are a major issue and can affect voting patterns.
