The Ugandan multi-millionaire tycoon Mr Ashish J. Thakkar, Founder of Mara Group and Mara Foundation, at the weekend urged Ghanaian youth to dream big, think big and to start entrepreneurship from somewhere.
He said a key component of entrepreneurship is learning to start in a small way with what you have and pursing your dream to its logical conclusion.
Mr Thakkar was speaking to Ghana News Agency in Accra on the sideline of the officially launch of the Mara Mentor, multi-lingual online portal and mobile App for youth mentorship and entrepreneurship.
The launch was performed by President John Dramani Mahama, as part of government’s efforts in cultivating an entrepreneurship culture among the youth.
Mr Thakkar observed that being an entrepreneur is not all about money, but being innovative, having the right values and attitude.
He said the Mara Mentor has been created to empower youth and women in their business endeavours, in recognition that they are the driving force behind economic growth and future prosperity.
He urged Ghanaian youth and women to take advantage of the Mara Mentor programme to undergo training in their areas of interest to enable them acquire more knowledge for building their businesses.
He said a number of activities would be held throughout the country to sensitise the public on the Mara Mentor programme, adding that it seeks to groom young African entrepreneurs into building successful businesses in Africa.
The Mara Mentor is an online community that enables ambitious entrepreneurs to connect with experienced and inspiring business leaders and online resources.
The Mara Mentor is part of the Mara Foundation that encourages idea and knowledge sharing among promising young entrepreneurs, inspiring a collaborative approach to business start-up and growth.
