General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has dismissed rumours that an argument ensued between him and President John Mahama during the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting last week.
According to him, not even under an extreme provocation by whoever, will he allow such an unfortunate incident to happen between himself and the President.
The NEC held a meeting during which the party spelt out modalities leading to its parliamentary and presidential elections in November.
The event was attended by both President John Mahama and his Vice, Amissah-Arthur, but the president left half way into the meeting. There are media reports that a disagreement between Mr Asiedu Nketia and President Mahama over certain decisions caused the latter to exit the meeting.
However, speaking to Kumasi based Nhyira FM, Mr Asiedu Nketiah stated that no such incident occurred.
He said the President in his speech at the event endorsed the resolutions reached.
“People may not know President Mahama that much, he’s a democrat to the core and knows how to deal with party issues; he’ll never throw his weight about because he’s the president”.
He accused the NDC’s detractors of being behind such a mischievous story, just to take some shine off the party’s successful NEC meeting which marks the party’s march to electoral victory in 2016 election.
