The Asogli power plant is expected to resume production next week and is expected to bring on board additional power to the national grid.
Repair works on the damaged portion of the power plant will be completed by the end of the week to bring some 200megawatts of electricity.
This was disclosed during a tour by President John Dramani Mahama to some power generation stations in Tema yesterday.
Brain behind the Sunon Asogli power plant, Togbui Afode XIV said rehabilitation works will be completed by the end of this week for production works to start.
Construction of the plant which began in October 2012 is also expected to be completed by April this year. The plant’s first phase is expected to generate 220megawatts of power.
Describing the plant as the cheapest built in the country, power minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor has asked workers to fast track its construction to ensure that we get power within the shortest possible time.
