Some dwellers along the Railway Line at Aboabo No.2 in the Asawase Constituency are unhappy about the unannounced demolition exercise that was carried out in the area Thursday morning.
More than fifteen houses including stores and other structures were affected in the exercise.
The Residents woke up to an early morning demolition exercise by some unknown persons in the area.
The residents say a long standing land dispute is still pending in the court awaiting verdict.
The Residents are pointing accusing fingers at one Hajia Huzeima for the incident.
They said, Hajia Huzeima has been litigating over that piece of land for a very long time as she has been claiming ownership of the land in question.
“This matter as far as I know is still in the law court and we don’t understand why we will wake up to a demolition exercise,” an affected resident lamented.
Meanwhile Chief Executive for the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly (AMMA), Alhaji Nurudeen Amidan described the development as unfortunate indicating that it is inappropriate to ignore the assembly when a demolition is being done.
Alhaji Amidan added that the assembly has launched an investigation into the matter and will ensure the perpetrators are made to face the laws.
“I was so shocked to the bone when the affected residents told me they were not served any notice before the demolition was carried out. It was an inhuman action that happened there and it is very unfortunate,” he said.
The MCE added that the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) was not also informed before the exercise was carried out emphasizing that it has some security implications.
The MCE says his office some time ago received a complaint regarding the said land but the matter was already in court.
