Staff of the National Disaster Management Organisation(NADMO) at the Asokwa Municipal Assembly last Saturday desilted gutters in Atonsu, a community within the municipality.
Storming the lorry station at dawn, the team cleaned the main boarding and loading arena at the station.
The team also cleared all weeds along the Atonsu routes.
Joined by some residents including members of the New Patriotic Party in the area, the staff worked till midday.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer newspaper after the exercise, Nana Akosah, Asokwa Municipal NADMO officer expressed delight at the opportunity to clean the Atonsu lorry station.
He noted the gutters in the area were getting choked with filth, adding some weeds were also growing around the main route.
The NADMO staff, he said therefore decided to undertake a timely exercise to desilt the gutters and deal with the weeds.
The NADMO office, he revealed has planned similar activities for all electoral areas, adding that it is the plan by the outfit to use such exercises to drum home the need for residents to keep their surroundings clean.
”We at NADMO are committed to dealing with all situations that may cause floods or any other insanitary problems since our mandate involves prevention of anything that can cause an emergency”, Nana Akosah intimated.
PARTICIPANTS:
Speaking to this reporter, Kwabena Gyasi, an Atonsu resident said he decided to join the NADMO staff to clean the gutters because the stench from them was disgusting at times.
He noted that cleanliness must be part of them as residents.
Madam Abena Amankwah, a trader who was beaming with smiles while cleaning said she was delighted to take part of the exercise so as to rid the area she sells from mosquitoes.
She thanked the NADMO staff for the initiative and urged the public to join in the effort to make Asokwa the cleanest municipality in the country.
