Three persons arrested in connection with the assault on kokofu head teacher have been granted bail by the Goaso circuit court with GH 10,000 for all and 3 sureties each.
The counsel for the 3 suspects, who pleaded not guilty on all the three charges put to them, requested bail for his clients and was granted.
The suspects were charged with an attempt to commit crime, unlawful entry on the school premise, and assault.
BACKGROUND
The head teacher for kokofu D/A basic school in the Asutifi south district of the Ahafo region of Ghana , Boakye Marfo was beaten to pulp for caning Lukaya Asana, a JHS 1 student for lateness and truancy to school.
The unconscious head teacher was taken to the Goaso government hospital for early treatment by the Asutifi south District Education Directorate. He was later referred to the sunyani regional hospital for further treatment.
Those who were involved in the act run away for cover. They were later apprehended by the Goaso police and arraigned before court.
The family of the canned student had lodged a formal complaint with the police against the head teacher for beating their daughter.
The head teacher was immediately arrested after the court proceedings. He pleaded he is allowed to continue his medical treatment at the sunyani regional hospital before his trial starts.
The head teacher is now bonded to returned to the police right after his medical treatment during which time he will be re – arrested and put before court.
Meanwhile, the court has adjourned the case to 23rd December, 2019.
