Some aggrieved Assembly members in the Atwima Nwabiagya District have accused the outgoing Ashanti Regional Minister Peter Anarfi Mensah of foiling the processes to remove their District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Nana Asare Bediako from office.
The House at a special General Assembly Meeting last week did not form two-thirds quorum needed to pass a vote of no confidence on their DCE compelling the Presiding Member to call off the meeting.
The aggrieved members have laid the blame at the doorstep of the Regional Minister.
They claim “the minister and the DCE conspired and called some members to a meeting a day before the voting process… our information is that all government appointees were asked not to attend our meeting so that we wouldn’t get the required number”.
“We are therefore calling the President to sack Hon. Asare Bediako or we will sack him through a vote of no confidence… we are tired and sick of him”
The embattled DCE has been accused of corruption, mismanagement, and engagement in illegal mining; allegations he has denied in the media and required that his accusers support their claims with evidence.
