Residents of some communities in the Atwima Mponua district say they are fed up wth the state of their road. The communities include Sreso-Timpom, Kyekyewere, Wansamere and some 10 other communities in the district.
They complain that vehicles have stopped plying the road. They say the few that occasionally ply the road charge unrealistic fares. They are therefore compelled to adopt commercial tricycles known locally as “aboboyaa” as their main sources of transportation.
Some of the residents who spoke to Otec FM’s Evans Agyei Sikapa revealed that the situation has affected their livelihoods especially as they are unable to transport their farm produces to the market centres.
They say they have tried variously to draw the attention of government to the sorry state of the road but to no avail.
They are threatening to use the bad road as a basis to vote at the country’s next general elections scheduled to take place next year.
The main road in question leads to the Nyinahin bauxite hub; a significant resource site for the country.
