Bawumia to launch Credit Score System November 7

The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will launch the credit score system on November 7, 2024.

The credit system, according to the vice president, will enable Ghanaians to purchase goods on credit and pay in instalments.

He shared this information during a visit to the chief and people of Yeji, in the Pru East of the Bono Region.

Throughout his campaign, Dr. Bawumia has emphasised his commitment to implementing bold policies that empower Ghanaians to realize their full potential and improve their quality of life.

One of the key initiatives he is promoting is the credit score system.

He explained that the government’s investments in a national address system, the National Identification System, and mobile money interoperability position Ghana to join the ranks of nations with credit scoring systems.

During his interaction with the Chiefs and people of Yeji, Dr. Bawumia stated that the credit score system will be launched before the upcoming elections, on November 7.

‘Before a credit system can operate, everyone will need to have a credit score. Initially, I figured work on the score system would be completed next year. But we have completed it and on November 7, we are going to launch Ghana’s scoring system.’

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the significance of implementing the credit score system, underscoring its potential benefits for the Ghanaian economy and its citizens.

He stated that the implementation of the credit scoring system will make Ghana the second country in Africa, after South Africa, to adopt such a system.

‘The whole of Africa, only one country has a credit system; that is South Africa. Ghana will be the second country in Africa with a credit scoring system. Anybody with a Ghana card can have a credit score which will enable you to purchase goods on credit and pay in instalments.’
