BCI sponsors 3 cancer survivors to Malaysia

Ghana News-Three (3) survivors at the Peace and Love Hospitals have been chosen to be part of an upcoming breast cancer conference in Malaysia.

Breast Care International (BCI), sponsors of the trip is ready to bear the conference fee, plane ticket and accommodation costs of the survivors.

Making the announcement at an annual general meeting of the Peace and Love Survivors Association (PALSA) in Kumasi last week, Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe Addai, BCI President, noted the importance of providing survivors the requisite knowledge to function more effectively.

According to the surgeon, survivors are best placed to explain the threat of breast cancer and the available treatment for persons who have been affected.

‘’It is with great pleasure to inform this Association that three of your members have been selected to be part of the upcoming breast cancer conference in Malaysia and I hope the lessons from that conference will guide you to have more zeal to tell people about the threat of breast cancer’’, Dr Wiafe Addai noted.

DETAILS:

Giving more details about the conference, the BCI President said the conference will update participants about the world’s effort in fighting against breast cancer.

New treatment measures, she mentioned will also be discussed at the international forum where medical experts across the globe will be present.

The forum, she noted will also be used to discuss the extent of discoveries the cancer union has made in getting more effective drugs for patients as well as survivors.

Dr Addai noted that the conference offers opportunity for survivors to learn at first hand ways of effectively disseminating information about breast cancer.

‘’It is important to note that after this conference the three members of your Association will be able to know the world’s view about cancer and effective ways of creating awareness of the disease among the populace’’, Dr Addai reiterated.

HEAD OF SURVIVORS:

Commending the BCI President, Madam Vivian Gyasi Sarfo expressed delight at the opportunity for some survivors to acquire more knowledge about breast cancer.

The knowledge the survivors will acquire, she mentioned will help the Association in its awareness creation efforts.

The association members across the nation, Madam Vivie underscored will also benefit from the knowledge their 3 lucky members will share after the conference so as to make them function more efficiently.

The acquisition of the requisite knowledge, she noted will spur them on to launch out in confidence as they talk to people about the need for women as well as men to test for unusual symptoms or occurrences in their breasts.

‘’We are grateful to our mother, Dr Wiafe Addai that apart from the free consultancy services and diagnosis she gives some of our members she has also decided to sponsor three of our mates to learn how the world is discussing and formulating policies to tackle the threat of breast cancer across the globe’’, the PALSA head noted.
