Mr Ibrahim Sumaila, a road contractor, has been elected by the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as its new Chairman,
He polled 203 votes to beat off the challenge by three other contestants – the incumbent, Jerry Kankam Darkwah, Alhaji Asare Manu and Alhaji Ali Seidu, who garnered 199, 107 and 84 votes, respectively.
This election was held at the party’s delegates conference at Subrinkwanta and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Other elected officers include Obeng Nyamekye, Secretary, Stephen Kofi Tawiah, Organizer, Nana Kwaku Badu, Treasurer, Ms Cecelia Tawiah, Women’s Organizer, and Nana Akwasi Danso, Youth Organizer.
In all, 624 delegates voted to choose their leaders to manage the affairs of the party for the next four years.
Mr Sumaila pledged not to disappoint them and asked the members to stand together and work as a team to return the NDC to power in 2016.
