The Ashanti Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Adomako says last Monday’s gun battle at the NDC regional headquarters which resulted in the death of one person should be blamed on the head of the former President, John Mahama.
According to the organizer, Mr Mahama’s recent unbridled comments and tacit endorsement of using violence to settle matters is cause of the melee at the NDCs regional party office.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper moments after reports became rife of the gun tooting incident Mr Adomako expressed disappointment in the former President for his recent outbursts and posturing.
The NPP regional organizer wondered why the former President, a beneficiary of the free education system as well as the most privileged in terms of positions occupied in public life could now turn to endorse the use of violence as a way of getting power or settling matters.
‘’My brother it is simply unthinkable that you would have a former President who has benefitted from the Ghanaian democratic system to now preach for the use of violence in attaining power or getting one’s concerns addressed’’, Mr Adomako slammed.
ARREST OF JOSEPH YAMMIN AND THUGS:
The regional organizer also chastised Joseph Yammin, the former Deputy Minister of Sports for being the person who took the vigilante group by name ‘the hawks’ to cause mayhem at the NDC’s party office where the latter’s elected officers were meeting.
Mr Adomako believes but for the presence of Yammin’s hawks nothing untoward would have happened at a normal functional executive meeting of the NDC.
He, therefore, requested the Police to extend the scope of persons being investigated to cover Joseph Yammin.
Mr Adomako insists that Yammin is best placed to identify and indicate the hideouts of the four persons who have been declared wanted by the Police.
‘’I believe Joseph Yammin and everyone who engaged the services of the two vigilante groups at the party headquarters should be invited and interrogated by the Police’’, Mr Adomako noted.
SANITY:
Mr Adomako commended the President, Nana Akufo-Addo for instituting the Ayawaso West Wuogon Commission of Inquiry.
This, he noted would ensure all issues that have come up as possible cause of the violence that characterized the recent by-election in Ayawaso are dealt with.
The regional organizer also tasked all political parties to rein in line their elements so they could lead responsible lives.
Violence and vigilantism, Mr Adomako posited can never be a solution to getting issues settled amicably, adding all political leaders should be committed to using proper procedures in resolving inter and intra-party issues.
