A free for all fight ensued Wednesday evening when some young men of Bongo Tingre prevented over 200 students of the Bongo senior High School in the Upper East region from drawing water from the only borehole that serves the entire community.
The two sides entered an argument over who should draw water first. The town folk prevented the students who insisted on drawing water first insisting the students would have no special treatment because the borehole did not belong to the school.
The students who also insisted on having their turn first resisted.
Punches, stones and sticks got summoned from nowhere and a fierce fight ensued.
Although no serious casualties were recorded, the students tell rawgist.com they are living in fear of another attack from the community.
The Bongo Senior High School is located in the middle of the Tingre community. Since the taps in the school are not functioning, the students rely on the community borehole as their source of water.
