The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II has urged people with roots from the Asante Kingdom to represent the tribe well wherever they find themselves.
He noted that no matter where one comes from he or she will either be praised or chastised by people for the kind of life he or she leads.
Addressing a group of Ashanti men and women based in Europe called Asanteman-Europe at the Manhyia Palace, Otumfuo said it is imperative for groups or individuals to comport and conduct themselves well in whatever they do since the actions they display will have a bearing on the tribes they hail from.
The Asanteman Overlord commended the group for finding time to pay homage to him and to also join in the 20 year anniversary of his reign as Asantehene.
‘’Represent Asanteman well by conducting yourselves peaceful in all you do as you also strive to be united with your fellow tribes men’’, Otumfuo stressed passionately.
ADMONITIONS:
Otumfuo charged the group to be diligent and focused in what they do as an Asanteman group.
He advised them against bad behaviors, noting the places they reside such as Belgium, Ireland, Holland, England, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Finland and Austria have some set of rules governing public conduct of citizens as well as residents.
The Asantehene urged the group and its branches elsewhere in Europe to stay united behind the common vision of helping to develop Asanteman.
‘’The singular purpose of your dignified Association in Europe is to help develop Asanteman and for this purpose alone you will be praised for the efforts you put up individually or collectively’’, Otumfuo noted.
GROUP:
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper later after the courtesy call, Nana Osei Kufuor Onipamu, Holland- Asantehene noted the group’s determination to promote and project Asanteman in all that they do.
He expressed the group’s happiness to be able to meet the Asante King and to also get the opportunity to listen to his advice.
Ohene Adjei Nimako, Director of Communications of Asanteman-Europe commended the Asantehene for spending time with the group.
He noted the commitment of the group to abide by the wise counsel of the King so as to stay focused in the activities they plan to undertake in Europe.
Receiving some items and an unspecified cash donation by the group on behalf of Otumfuo, Baffuor Kofi Attobrah, Dadiesoabahene thanked the group for the gesture and urged them to project Asanteman in their countries of residence.
Also present at the brief ceremony were Nana Ama Serwaah Nyarko, Holland Asantefohemaa, Nana Akyiaa Oyiakwan, Switzerland Asantehemaa, Nana Amono Gyamfua, Italy Asantehemaa, Nana Nsuobeyebuoden Agyenim Boateng ( Otumfuo Dampono-ano-nkosuohene) and Nana Owusuwaa Marengo ( Kumasi Bohyenhemaa).
