Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a former Minister for Agriculture and NPP MP for Abetifi on Monday paid a visit to the burnt Bluelight Market arena in Kumasi.

Accompanied by some notable personalities in the NPP including the Subin MP, Lawyer Obiri Yeboah and former MP for Asante Akyem North,  Andy Appiah-Kubi and many others, Dr. Acheampong toured the burnt site to sympathize with the traders.

Occasionally stopping to show some sad emotions, Dr. Acheampong encouraged the traders who had mounted tents and parasols to sell their left over goods.

Message:
Speaking to the traders at the arena, Dr. Acheampong encouraged the traders to have hope in God.

He also promised to work to reconstruct the market for them when Otumfuo gives him the green light.

As his contribution towards resettlement the traders, Dr. Acheampong presented GhC 300.000 to the leadership of the traders association.

“I feel your pain and as a business person I can relate to the loss you are confronted with and so this GhC 300, 000 is to help you assuage the plight of the heavily affected amongst you as we wait to hear from Otumfuo on plans he has for the reconstruction of this site”, Dr. Acheampong stated.

Traders Association Chairperson:
Leader of the United Traders Association, Bobie Ansah thanked the former Agric Minister for the gesture.

He said the donation would help to support the reconstruction attempts by the traders.

The Chairman also commended Dr. Acheampong who they fondly called “BA” for showing his humane side by promising to reconstruct the arena to modern standards when given the green light.

“We are grateful to you for your kindness and to hear you show commitment to rebuild this arena for us is comforting and we pray God keep you favoured all your days”, Mr. Bobie Ansah
