The Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwaa has assured that all roads within his constituency will be completed by April 2020.
According to the MP, the Minister of Roads and Highways; Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta after touring the Constituency in August 2017, acknowledged the deplorable condition of roads in the area and promised that the government will fix the roads by the end of the first term of the Akuffo Addo regime.
The legislator spoke in an interview with OTEC NEWS reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Thursday, August 22, 2019, on Otec FM’s new programme ‘Asanteman Nkwan’, a project called ‘Operation Fix Our Roads’ (#OFOR).
He defended his earlier statement that roads in areas such as Buokrom South Africa, Nana Appiah, Buokrom Estate and Krofrom all in the Manhyia North Constituency will be completed on schedule by the current NPP administration.
He stressed that the government has not failed on its promise to fix roads as construction works are still ongoing in the constituency.
The government’s commitment to fix roads in the Constituency became an issue in media circles after residents in the area told OTEC NEWS reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng that the MP and the government have failed in the timelines they gave for the completion of roads in the area.
The residents who expressed their displeasure over the poor state of roads in the Constituency said the MP after promising to fix the roads by the end of 2017 has failed to honour his promise.
The MP on the “Asanteman Akwan” program however insisted that the roads will be completed in April 2020 as promised.
