Businessmen urged to keep good records

GRSThe Ghana Revenue Service (GRS), has appealed to the self-employed to keep good business records and be responsive to their tax obligations.

Mr Benjamin Tekpor, the Eastern Regional Small Tax Payer Officer of the GRS in-charge of the Birim Central, South, North and the Akyemmansa districts, told the GNA in an interview.

Mr Tekpor said taxes were used to provide infrastructure and other social amenities which contribute to good standard of living for the people.

He said there would not be the need for Ghana to borrow money from the developed countries to finance its development projects if Ghanaians honour their tax obligations promptly.

He mentioned some challenges facing the department as inadequate staff and lack of vehicles.
