The National Democratic Congress, (NDC ) aspiring member of parliament for the Nhyiaeso Constituency, Dr Samuel Sarpong has urged the largest opposition party to call its Ashanti regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako to order so as to forestall peace in the region ahead of the 2016 General election.
Speaking exclusively to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper from Nigeria where he is attending a summit on housing on behalf of the State Housing Company Limited, Dr Sarpong said the latest pronouncements by the New Patriotic Party’s, (NPP ) regional Chair that he will stop NDC assigns from using motorolas to communicate during the upcoming elections was uncalled for.
According to him, the statement was highly ‘irresponsible and inflammatory’.
This statement, Dr Sarpong noted was entirely unnecessary, stressing the NPP chairman cannot in any way carry out such an action.
He, however, mentioned the commitment of the NDC to peace ahead of the impending presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.
But, Dr Sarpong stressed the party will not be cowed into submission by opposition elements.
CAUTION:
In a rather fierce tone, Dr Sarpong warned that the NDC would deal decisively with any erring member of the NPP including its regional chairman, Antwi Boasiako a.k.a Wontumi.
He noted the NPP would have themselves to blame if they tried anything sinister ahead or during the upcoming polls.
”Some of us will not sit down to allow any acts of indiscipline to be perpetrated in the Ashanti Region’, the State Housing Manager furiously drummed.
DEFIANCE:
He noted, ‘ if I alone single-handedly dealt with some NPP members who tried attacking a group of NDC party men that had gathered in a place at Adum for a meeting in 1992 after Chairman Rawlings had been declared as president of Ghana, how much more now where our numbers in the region has increased’.
He therefore cautioned the NPP to ward off its regional chairman from making inflammatory statements.
READINESS :
He insisted the ruling party was ready to counteract any acts of thuggery and insubordination from any quarters ahead of the 2016 elections.
Having being trained as a security officer in both Bulgaria and Cuba where he excelled as a field officer during the revolutionary days, Dr Sarpong stressed his readiness to repel every onslaught of the NPP Chairman in the Ashanti Region.
