Ashanti Regional Police Commander COP Ken Yeboah has challenged Police personnel to alter their mindsets as a first step towards transforming the service.
The Ashanti regional Police Commander who was addressing personnel during a sensitization project aimed at transforming the Police Service advised his colleagues to put into practice knowledge acquired in order better the lot of the Police service.
The programme themed; In the Service of Democracy, peace and development, was a collaboration between the Ghana Police service and Hanns Sedel Foundation(HSF).
COP Ken Yeboah challenged the personnel to have vision and work as a team to meet best practices.
He urged them to work hard to transform the service through international best practices, and cautioned them to desist from detaining suspects over 48 hours or showing photos of juvenile suspects to the public.
Benjamin Agordzo, Director of the transformation programme, explained that, the thematic areas targeted by the foundation are Transformation, CID department, welfare of personnel, ICT and professionalism improvements.
According to him, the project is in line with the police and government’s agenda of equiping the police in Ghana to meet up to expectations of modern policing.
