“Clark is partisan”, Afenyo-Markin alleges as violence ends vetting of Ministerial nominees

Ranking Member on the Appointments Committee; Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the Clark to the Appointments Committee of being “a partisan Clark”.

His accusation followed violence between members of the Minority and Majority sides of the Committee that left microphones, tables and other fittings at the vetting venue destroyed.

The chaos began after misunderstandings over whether or not the vetting process should continue or end. The Minority side insisted the proceedings should be adjourned to the next morning while the Majority insisted on carrying on the vetting. It was well after 10pm when the violent misunderstanding began.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh; Ministerial Nominees for foreign Affairs and Health respectively were in line to be vetted when the confusion occurred forcing leadership of the committee to adjourn proceedings to Friday morning due to broken microphones.

On the sidelines of the chaos, Ranking Member Afenyo-Markin insisted that his side will not be bullied into submission especially after they had already bent backwards to vet six nominees instead of the original three that was scheduled for vetting today.

He accused the Clark of being NDC and added that she connives with the NDC side and place advertisements on the blind side of the NPP.

Other observers who had come to lend support to the nominees were unhappy that the Majority side was allowing the Minority to dictate the pace of proceedings.
