Information available to rawgist.com confirms how the government has thrown merit out the window and is using political party affiliation as the sole yardstick for recruitment into the public sector.
This particular instance happened with recruitment to the Cocoa Health and Extension Division of COCOBOD.
Some candidates who applied as casual workers (pollinators) and were shortlisted at Adansi Brofoyedru in the Ashanti region were dropped at the last minute at the behest of the NPP Chairman for Asante Akim South; Mr. Adarkwa popularly known as Kisko and his executives.
The victims who out of frustration narrated their plight to rawgist.com recount that “Kisko and his other executives visited the screening grounds and started questioning the applicants to find out who connected them to the job”.
As naive as they were, they did not know what their answers meant for their job search. Once it was established that they did not come through any “big man” within the ruling party, and also that they were not known members of the NPP there, the chairman ordered the officer in charge of the screening to delete their names and replace them with known NPP members and sympathizers he suggested.
They recall that the officer in charge resisted him saying, “he was not there to do party job and added that he could not tamper with the list since it was sent from Accra and signed by his Director as well as the chief of staff”.
“By this resistance from the officer, we were able to go through the screening and were successful. After that, we were put into various groups for training. After a successful first day of training, another list was brought in from the Member of Parliament for the area. “Their party was in power and hence anyone who was not a recognized member of the party had to drop out for their party folk to be recruited”, they explained.
Rawgist.com managed to lay hands on the list of applicants who participated in the screening but were sacked at Banso and Takyikrom together with another list of successful applicants who needed help getting their Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) particulars processed so COCOBOD could pay their contributions and had been given an introductory letter to that effect.
