The Loyal Ladies, a pro-New Patriotic Party(NPP) youth group has extended its arm of benevolence to the people of Abuakwa and Kwadaso as they held a free medical screening exercise for residents last Saturday.
The event which took place at the Kwadaso Methodist Church park, had people screening for blood pressure, malaria, diabetes as well hypertension.
Others who had problems with their ear and throat were also attended to by a specialist from the Ear and Throat Department of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH).
About 500 people had been screened after midday, with many participants expressing delight at the gesture extended to them by the NPP ladies.
CAPTAIN:
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after the exercise, Martha Koduah, Captain of Loyal Ladies said the group was concerned about the well-being of Ghanaians.
According to her, only healthy beings could contribute their strength and talents to help build a prosperous country.
This belief, she mentioned influenced the group to organize the medical screening exercise, adding they decided to start with the people of Kwadaso as they plan to reach out to other areas in subsequent holidays.
She commended the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Lawyer Justin Kodua, CEO-Youth Employment Agency(YEA) and Nana Kwabena Appiah(Vyrus) for the support they gave the group for the medical screening exercise as well as other programs they had earlier conducted.
She also praised the efforts of the CEO of Brafako Group of Companies for donating medical supplies for the exercise.
APPEAL:
In a passionate appeal, Madam Martha Koduah has urged well meaning members of the party(NPP) to support the group’s activities.
According to her, the group was committed to providing more assistance to the needy and less fortunate in the society but was hindered by lack of funds.
However, she promised to mobilize more of the country’s youth especially ladies in various communities across the country so as to be able to reach out to the needy by utilizing resources they get from members.
On her part, Madam Perpetual Lomotey, Representative from the Accra branch of Loyal Ladies encouraged the youth to pick up NPP membership cards since the party was committed to resourcing the youth to play vital roles in nation building.
