News Desk Report:
“Concert Party” At KNUST…As Legal Route Agenda To Stop VC’s Extended Mandate Hits A Snag!
After confirming by majority decision the second term mandate of Prof Rita Akosua Dickson, first female Vice- Chancellor of the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for a further two years at the 282nd regular Governing Council Meeting on 20th of June, 2024, some disgruntled elements within the Governing Council are doing everything within their “frail” power to stop the lady Professor from taking her due extension.
The latest plot is a legal action which was filed on the 16th of July, 2024 by one Kofi Clement Ohene Asare, a fugitive who is claiming Alumni status despite failing to pay his dues for years that would have made him have a good standing.
Perhaps what the architects of this plot fail to learn is that once the Governing Council has approved the extension from the 1st August, 2024 to 31st July, 2026 no legal action can set aside what was legitimately carried out.
More importantly, once the Governing Council has dutifully given the appointment letter to Professor Rita Dickson, except an act of God, no legal gymnastic or prophecy given by man can stop the Lady Professor from beginning her deserved extension of office which interestingly starts on the 1st of August 2024.
Investigations:
Our sources at the University tell us that the architects of this latest agenda are bent on using all crude and cruel manners to enforce a prophecy their favourite choice of VC got from a supposed “Seer” who promised that he was next in line to become the VC of KNUST.
The source said the plot executioners rather than to allow God to have his way if he so wills, are doing everything with human hands to enforce what their protégé is reported to have heard from a supposed man of God.
By age calculations, anything short of stopping Prof Rita Dickson from beginning her extended mandate on August 1st, 2024 and possibly this year will rule out this agenda setting Professor out of ever becoming VC of KNUST.
Legal Route Agenda:
Interestingly, the writ application filed on the 16th of July, 2024 at the Kumasi High Court seeks to injunct the University, Council Chairman and the Vice Chancellor, Prof Rita Akosua Dickson from going ahead with her second term mandate
The writ seeks to stop the Lady Professor from beginning her mandate extension on the appointed date of 1st August and similarly wants the VC to step aside until the case filed is dispensed with.
In the writ of summons, plaintiff Ohene Asare through his legal counsel, Annis Moghtar Mohayideen Esq argues that the grounds on which the extension of mandate was granted is against the dictates of the University’s regulations.
Possible Withdrawal:
However, at the time of going to press, our source indicated that the plaintiff had indicated his desire to voluntarily withdraw the case from the High court.
The source said there is pressure on the plaintiff to do so owing to his ill-fated locus or standing.
Counter Action:
Our soure said a Council Member who had a hint about the writ has written to question the impropriety of the legal challenge.
He stated that the plaintiff has failed to pay dues as an Alumni and it rules him out of any possibility of being a member in good standing, adding that Ohene Asare has no locus to be able to challenge the settled extension mandate of the Lady Professor, Prof Mrs Dickson.
Next Move:
Owing to the foregoing, the wicked agenda setters are set to meet on Wednesday to deliberate about the threat of withdrawal of the suit filed by their assign.
These frustrated Council Members, our source said were sure that by using the legal route they could get a former Justice of the Superior Court who wields power and authority in the Governing Council to facilitate proceedings and processes in their favour so as to uproot the calm lady Professor, Mrs Rita Akosua Dickson like cassava from the ground.
This portal will keep updating our audiences every step of the way as things pan out from the camps of the evil agenda setters and the management of KNUST.
Meanwhile if the case is not withdrawn, the injunction application will be heard on the 30th of July, 2024 at the Kumasi High Court.
It would be interesting if the agenda setters would still go ahead with the legal plot if information trickling to this portal that the President of the Republic has asked the Council Chair to ensure the lady Professor gets her peace of mind to continue her mandate is true.
