The Graduate students association of Ghana (GRASAG) president of KNUST, Michael Adu is calling on the national service secretariat to give national service opportunities to postgraduate students to gain working experience after their postgraduate degrees as requested by most companies.
According to him, as a result of the increasing unemployment situation in Ghana, most graduates pursue postgraduate programs just after their undergraduate study in order not to remain unemployed.
He believes an opportunity given to them to have national service after their postgraduate programmes will be an advantage.
He made this call at the “Campus Connect” Programme at KNUST organized by the Government of Ghana on the 14th of April, 2015.
Addressing the issue, Dr. Micheal Kpesa White, the National Service boss indicated that there is room for unpaid national service for those who wish to have working experience but admonished people not to rely fully on that but should be opened to other potential employment opportunities at any point in time.
