Doctor Kofi Frimpong Oppon, a medical practitioner at the Family Health Department of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has asked the public to hold tight to the hand washing etiquette and the application of hand sanitizer at regular intervals so as to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease.

According to the family health specialist,  many were showing signs and symptoms of the viral disease upon visits at the hospital.

This, he noted was as a result of the lack of adherence to the COVID-19 protocols that minimised the spread recently.

Addressing the media at the launch of FAMCARE Medical Consult, an on call medical centre at Krofrom-CPC Friday night, the Dr Oppon said that the earlier people in the country revert to the strict adherence of the COVID-19 protocols the better for the people of Ghana.

SYMPTOMS:
The KATH medical practitioner said many who visited the hospital for care have been showing signs of flu and excessive fever.

Some others have been showing high temperatures with others coughing incessantly.

These, he noted were signs of the current COVID-19 variant that had been seen elsewhere in Europe and Africa.

He admonished the public not to self medicate when they see these signs but rather attend to hospital for proper diagnosis and treatment.

ADMINISTRATOR:
Giving details about the new medical facility for the residents of Kumasi,  Mrs Manuella Oppon, administrator at FAMCARE Medical Consult said the clinic will cater for patients who cannot be physically present at the facility to access care.

She said these include the aged and the very weak at the house.

The administrator noted that once a call is made to their front desk they would assign physicians and nurses to attend to the needs of the patients wherever they may be  based.

Other busy persons who would want to access care, Mrs Oppon said could also call to book appointments with doctors or other health officers at the clinic so that when they arrive they could be taken care of immediately and leave afterwards.

“FAMCARE Medical Consult is here to serve the weak and frail who cannot come to our clinic for care but can call for us to help. We are also here to give busy persons opportunity to call to book appointments with us for care so when they arrive they can be seen to quickly”, Mrs Oppon intimated.

HEALTH SCREENING:
As part of activities to announce its presence in the Kumasi metropolis and in particular the Krofrom Community,  Famcare held a free medical screening exercise Saturday morning.

The medical staff and officers attended to people with chronic and other ailments such as High Blood Pressure,  Malaria and Diabetes.

Persons, especially the aged and frail who needed special care were also attended to.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after the exercise, Mrs Manualla Oppon said FAMCARE was happy to be able to deliver care to people for free.
