Gate fees for matches involving glorious Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium for the rest of the Ghana Premier League is set to go up by one hundred percent.
This decision has been arrived at because of the high financial burden on the club due to its limited source of funding.
It is factual that majority shareholder; Togbe Afede XIV is the main bank roller of the club and as such other avenues are paramount to complement his efforts.
Leaders of the continental club masters have disclosed to the media that due to high cost in administration in terms of officials and players’ salaries, bonuses and other expenses, they have to seek financial assistance from the supporters in the aspect of increased gate fees.
“We need to help the team (supporters) and one way to do this is through the gate. So we are increasing the gate fees to give the club a strong financial capacity” Eric Barima Atuanhene, chairman of the National Chapters Committee explained.
However, this action is taking immediate effect starting from their Ghana Premier League match week four against Bechem United come this Sunday at the Accra Sports stadium. The supposed gate fees to be paid at the stadium this weekend and at subsequent matches are as follows: GH₵10 for popular stand, GH₵15 for the center line, GH₵20 for VIP and GH₵25 for the VVIP.
