Students of Zugbeli Primary School in Tamale Metropolis of the Northern region are calling on the government to come to their aid to maintain one class room which has become a death trap.
Teachers in the school say children have been injured several times while playing in teh dilapidated structure. Falling remnants of what is left of the building would usually drop on them.
rawgist.com visited the school and found that walls of the structure have deep cracks and were only supported by rotten and loose pieces of wood. The roof are shattered with nails all over.
School authorities say the structure has remained in that condition for years and a litany of appeals to authorities have fallen deaf ears. They believe the structure would cause a serious tragedy if they failed to act urgently.
Efforts to reach city Authorities including the MCE Hanan Gundadoo have been unsuccessful as he refused to return calls and texts messages of this reporter.
