Democracy Has Served Ghana 🇬🇭 Well—-Asokwa MCE Testifies.
Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa says the practice of democracy has served Ghana 🇬🇭 very well in its pursuit for economic independence and development.
Addressing the 67th independence day anniversary parade mounted by cadet groups and thirteen (13) basic and second cycle schools in the Asokwa Municipality on Wednesday, the 6th of March, Chief Akwannuasah said despite the challenges the country faced, the uninterrupted path of democracy has ensured the country charts its own path to development for its people.
The MCE noted every facet of life as well as sectors of the economy including state institutions have seen development in one form or another since Ghana 🇬🇭 gained independence from British Colonial rule.
“We may not have solved all our challenges confronting us as a people but having our freedoms to carry out our development plan is something that should make us proud as a people”, Chief Akwannuasah stated.
Caution From Atonsu Chief:
Nana Yaw Adarkwa Gu-Ayebiafo II, Chief of Atonsu who chaired the occasion commended the Member of Parliament for Asokwa and Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon Patricia Appiagyei for lobbying for the elevation of Asokwa to Municipal status.
This, he noted has ensured the opening up of the communities of the Municipality to development.
The Chief also praised the Municipal Assembly staff including the Assembly Members for working to ensure development projects were undertaken at the communities under the Municipality.
“I want to urge the youth of this Municipality that as government and leaders of our area do their part in securing jobs for the people and developing our communities they also live lives that would bring peace to Asokwa at all times. Again as elections draw close may we all be careful of our attitudes so that we can continue to enjoy the peace we have”, the Chief admonished.
Member of Parliament:
Speaking to the media after the event, Hon Patricia Appiagyei, MP for Asokwa and Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament commended the 13 schools, the Persons With Disability Group and the cadet groups for putting off their best in the march past including the cultural performances.
She noted that Asokwa stands to benefit from government initiatives and urged the people to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to continue after 2024.
Hon Appiagyei encouraged the youth to be hopeful of jobs and asked them to take advantage of the Jobs Center she was putting up to collate data of persons who need jobs in the Asokwa.
“The data collected would be used to secure jobs for the people based on their competences and qualifications and i am committed to using my influence to push for everyone whose data would be made available”, Hon Appiagyei stated.
Municipal Director of Education:
Reverend Ebenezer Oteng- Marfo, Asokwa Director of Education commended headteachers as well as staff of the participating schools for preparing their students to put off splendid marching skills at the parade.
He also thanked the Municipal Assembly for continually investing in infrastructure and teaching aids to schools in Asokwa.
Meanwhile, Kumasi High School was for the umpteenth time adjudged the best school in the march past session of the anniversary parade.
