The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, who doubles as the Regional NABCO Coordinator, Mr Dennis Kwakwa, has settled the impasse between the SRC President and some Alumni of Unity Hall(CONTI)of KNUST through an out of court settlement.
The feat was achieved on Monday during a meeting between the two parties.
This achievement comes on the heels of a directive issued by the deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Asenso Boakye, who is the founding president of TESCON, during KNUST TESCON homecoming event last year.
DETAILS:
The Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye earlier in the year directed the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, Mr Dennis Kwakwa to urgently resolve the impasse between the Kwame KNUST SRC’s President, Adu Baah Charles, and some Alumni of Unity Hall (Continental) on the issue of the conversion of Male Halls into mixed Halls.
The legal tussle caused most of the NPP’s Tertiary Students Confederacy Network (TESCON) of KNUST to be apathetic toward TESCON related activities on campus.
Some of the TESCON faithfuls expressed their disappointments in the NPP and the SRC President of KNUST, whom they believe is a known TESCON affiliate, for not championing their interest when the issue of the halls conversion came up.
The abatement of the legal tussle brings great relief to the members of TESCON since the morale of the students will be boosted up and make them poised for action to face the 2020 elections.
HOPE:
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer newspaper after the resolution, Mr Kwakwa indicated his happiness about the resolution.
He noted that both parties expressed willingness to work to ensure the progress of academic work on campus.
“I am hopeful that things would work out since both parties are committed to doing all they can to ensure they move academic work forward on campus”, Mr Kwakwa noted.
